課程概述

Course Description
This course is a general introduction to language testing and statistical analyses for language assessment. It focuses on fundamental concepts in the development of language assessment and applications of statistical analyses to the evaluation and improvement of language tests. This course will provide students with multiple opportunities to examine the properties of language tests, using classical measurement principles and practices.

Course Objectives
Specific course objectives include: (1) helping students develop an understanding of basic concepts and logical foundations of language testing and measurement, (2) helping students develop a conceptual understanding of the classical test theory and its application to language assessment research, (3) providing multiple opportunities for students to analyze a wide range of language assessment data and interpret results, and (4) helping students develop technical expertise with statistical programs.

Requirements:
You are expected to come to class prepared. Before class, you should have done all the readings, worked on the homework problems, and checked your email for any updates or clarifications. You should be ready to participate fully in the discussions, including email discussions.
